The design utilized a combination of open bottom storm chambers with a gravel base that could maximize the capacity of the stormwater detention facility while allowing opportunities for infiltration.

Delaware County Judicial Building

As a key member of the Architect’s design team, Environmental Design Group provided conceptual site design, traffic impact studies, construction documents, and bidding and construction phase services for the new $32-million Delaware County Judicial Building project.

The 80,000 square-foot, five-story brick building will house county offices and connect to a new three-level parking structure. The site’s sloping topography allowed for strategic placement of entrances into the parking deck for direct access at all three levels. Site amenities were selected to complement the historic character of the downtown. Landscape treatments and hardscapes filled with bands of decorative concrete pavers, infilled with brick, create a welcoming entry plaza while grounding the building as a symbol of authority, stability, integrity, and fairness. Street parking along Sandusky Street was eliminated to prevent vehicles from parking adjacent to the building. This created an opportunity to enhance the City’s streetscape and connect the Hayes Building and the new judicial building to Delaware’s downtown.
