IMPACT

Environmental Design Group developed building and site designs to elevate camper outcomes and guest experiences as well as meet the American Camp Association requirements for accreditation. As part of site utility analysis, operational efficiencies were uncovered that will significantly reduce operation and maintenance man hours and costs.

Rock Springs Ranch: Camp and Retreat

This 735-acre property is rebuilding its foundation as a signature camp and retreat center to serve Kansas 4-H members and the Kansas State Research and Extension at Kansas State University. Building on the master plan, this project provided a consistent design philosophy to enhance the camp brand and support long term programming and operational needs.

We provided guidance for construction delivery methods, developed implementation plans and criteria documents, and helped select the design build team. Criteria documents included design options for multiple building types, site plans, and recommendations for water, wastewater and fire protection utility systems necessary to support current and future needs. Building designs included both renovation and new construction options for camper cabins, staff housing, camp office, health center, multi-purpose program building, shelters, and an amphitheater. Water and wastewater system analysis included mapping the sanitary collection and water distribution systems as well as, potential modifications and improvements to the water treatment and wastewater treatment process.
