Location

Cleveland, Ohio

IMPACT

The project provided:

Multi-modal connectivity through Cleveland’s historic Tremont neighborhood by way of multi-modal transportation options along a shared-use path.

Aesthetic enhancements and areas of environmental regeneration throughout the length of the shared-use path corridor.

Increased visibility to downtown Cleveland, historic neighborhoods and the industrial flats through trailheads, plazas and overlooks along the shared-use path.

Cuyahoga County Towpath Trail Stage 3

Environmental Design Group provided engineering and detailed design services for the shared-use path, trailheads, plazas, nodes, green infrastructure, environmental regeneration and enhancements. Our team also provided landscape architecture, earthwork and grading, SWPPP and erosion control, landscaping, surveying, right-of-way plans, and ADA accessibility design.

The third stage of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail extends through Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood from Quigley Avenue (south) to Literary Road (north). This shared-use path is paved, 10’ wide (in some areas wider to accommodate heavy traffic and/or steep slopes), ADA compliant and meets all AASHTO and ODOT design standards. Active stakeholders throughout the engineering and design process included the Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works, Ohio Department of Transportation, City of Cleveland, Cleveland Metroparks, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio & Erie Canalway Partners, and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District.
