Cleveland Zoo – Asian Highlands

The design offers guests dynamic and unique ways to learn about conservation and connect to wildlife in their natural habitats.

The 1.3-acre exhibit was funded by the Cleveland Metroparks and the Cleveland Zoological Society. The Asian Highlands is home to snow leopards, Amur leopards, red pandas and takin. The site was designed to allow the animals to live and play outdoors, all year round, in interconnected habitat areas. Visitors are met with central Chinese influenced architecture and other Asian inspired site elements where they connect and learn about the animals.

Our team provided civil engineering, landscape architecture, and construction administration services which included creating construction documents for earthwork, utility relocation, stormwater pollution prevention and the installation of utility services, site hardscape and landscaping. Construction details and specifications were also developed. As part of a multi-discipline team, Environmental Design Group participated in design phase meetings.
