IMPACT

This section of Cleveland Massillon Road is the gateway to the City of Fairlawn and the roundabout and associated landscaping will welcome visitors to commerce areas. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing the roundabouts, road widening, and improved traffic signaling will improve traffic movement, minimize traffic jams, and increase motorist safety.

Cleveland Massillon Road Improvement Project

Environmental Design Group serves as the Certified Professional Engineer (CPE) in accordance with ODOT LPA requirements, with construction administration tasks including daily reports, leading progress meetings, schedule review and tracking, reviewing contractor pay requests, tracking quantities, responding to RFI’S, change order documentation, quality control and specification adherence and utility coordination.

This ODOT local let LPA project includes the widening and reconstruction of Cleveland Massillon Road. Major work items include installation of a new roundabout, replacement of both Schocalog Run and Rosemont Golf Course culverts, reconstruction of the I-77 northbound exit ramp and upgraded signalization and lighting. Additional scope items include curbs, sidewalk, stamped concrete, 10’ shared-use path, drainage, new water lines, sanitary modifications, utility relocation, new signing and pavement markings. This section of Cleveland Massillon Road is extremely well traveled and communicating road closures and detours to public service entities and residents was extremely important. The initial phase plan was modified to open the road ahead of schedule and accommodate Election Day traffic on November 3, 2020. Large scale dewatering and creek re-routing needed to go perfectly to set the large stormwater structures and culverts to meet the election deadline.
