IMPACT

The community of Hudson is safer with these dam and lake modifications. Additional 9.5 acre-feet of regional flooding storage is created in a park-like setting for this treasured lake. This project will result in a safer community, with dams in compliance with ODNR regulations.

Barlow Community Center Lake and Dams Improvements

Environmental Design Group prepared public involvement materials, dam repair design, embankment design, H&H modeling, US ACoE permitting support services, topographic survey, bathymetric survey, landscape design, and active controls design.

Barlow Community Center Dams are a series of two Class II dams in a City of Hudson Park with walking trails on the crests of the embankments and the reservoirs enjoyed as passive recreation. Neither dam is in compliance with Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) regulations and State of Ohio law for the newly revised state regulations. The team refined preliminary designs to create a non-regulated embankment, upgrade active controls, increase flood stormwater storage, and provide an aesthetically pleasant design.
