Akron Children’s Considine Professional Office Building

Environmental Design Group was a key member of the ILPD team responsible for providing survey, civil engineering, landscape architecture, environmental engineering, traffic engineering and construction phase services. Work included extensive involvement throughout the ILPD process and culminated in the delivery of a highly successful project.

The Considine Professional Building was designed with patient families in mind, providing a convenient, modern space with access to the hospital’s specialties and clinics. The seven-story building sits on a sloping, urban site across from the main hospital. It includes a patient drop off area with valet parking, beautifully landscaped grounds, public art, and a pedestrian bridge that spans over West Bowery Street and connects to the main hospital building. Architecture and site work together and fit within the campus with a distinct aesthetic. Original market cost estimated the total project at over $100 million, however, utilizing ILPD, the overall project cost was reduced to $84 million.
