IMPACT

Environmental Design Group’s recommended trail alignment has given the City and private property owners an accessible, attainable, and prioritized approach to fulfilling the first leg of a vision to create a multi-phased east-west corridor within the City of Cuyahoga Falls.

Mud Brook-Mill Pond Greenway and Wetland Restoration

The project consists of an 8-foot-wide one-mile-trail, a trailhead, and a one-acre wetland along Mud Brook. The project will connect the public to several unique ecosystems including a stream, riparian wetlands, floodplain wetlands and forested floodplains. The trail is the beginning of a future four-mile trail along Mud Brook.

We performed an alignment study and developed construction documents and a detailed opinion of probable costs for the City of Cuyahoga Falls. Out team previously studied the existing flooding and erosion issues within the tributary. The previous work identified the opportunity to design a proposed floodplain wetland as a part of the trail project. We efficiently adjusted the trail alignment and assisted in negotiating with adjacent landowners after an initial alignment was found to be impractical due to unknown factors in land ownership. Environmental Design Group performed all elements of the design project including survey, schematic design, detailed design, environmental permitting, final construction documents and conducting public meetings for the project.
