An Owner’s Representative (Owner’s Rep) for construction management is a contracting method that engages consulting personnel to function within a client’s operation as an extension of the client. Owner’s Rep is commonly utilized to provide temporary support to specific or unique programs and/or projects with defined start and finish milestones.
Benefits of Engaging Owner’s Rep
There are many benefits in using Owner’s Rep for construction management. Some of those benefits include:
- Temporary Arrangement – Can be used when a temporary arrangement is needed that does not require the client organization to add permanent FTEs. Contract extensions can be requested.
- Industry Knowledge – It’s a simple way to engage additional industry expertise on specific topics.
- Client Equipment – Contracts can position the Owner’s Rep to work out of the client’s physical facility and/or utilize the client’s provided equipment and systems.
- Build Relationships – They create an opportunity to build strong partnerships and elevate service by engaging the consultant in the client’s organizational culture.
- Flexible Opportunity – Contracts may include focused scopes of service or flexible menu of services in a single contract at a stated hourly rate and/or fee.
- Grow Together – Provides opportunity for clients and consultants to learn and grow together through shared experience.
