Charles Mill Lake Park

Project Highlights

Environmental Design Group created a park-wide evaluation and prioritization infrastructure and site improvement engineering study. The study resulted in improvements to more than 350 RV sites and 100 camping sites with new restrooms and shower facilities, upgraded infrastructure including power, water, gas, and sanitary sewer, design of a wastewater treatment facility, road and parking lot improvements, additional trails and recreational facilities including a boat launch, fishing piers, and beach activity center.

Completion of the project relied upon EDG’s development of a hydraulic model for the water distribution system throughout the campground. The model was utilized to predict the effect of the existing system with various layout and waterline sizes on pressure and flow at critical locations throughout the system.

The new water/wastewater system includes the renovation of the existing water plant to add treatment for iron and manganese, a new 25,000 gpd wastewater plant, water permitting including combining to two existing PWSIDs, construction of a 50,000 gallon elevated storage tank, and the addition of three sanitary pump stations.

The Beach Campground and Activity Area at Charles Mill Lake Park now offers full utility hookups and amazing views of the lake. The facility includes a signature playground, an expanded activity area with all-new sport courts, a large rentable shelter, and a custom shower house.
