Ohio’s Stay at Home Order = Opportunity to Explore and Care for Yourself in Ohio’s Parks

Written by: Jeff Kerr, PLA, AICP, ASLA and Tammi Nagucki CPSM

Looking for a silver lining? We found one. Given the fact that most of us have just been given back our commute time and spring is in the air – let’s consider the opportunity for exploring the natural wonders that are found in our great park systems. Environmental Design Group is proud to have designed so many of the parks and trails in our region. We’re also proud that these parks and trails are now offering some stress relief, health benefits and activity for Ohioans who find themselves cooped up at home like no other time in our history.

Getting out and exploring has so many benefits to our overall health and well-being. The fresh air will invigorate your energy levels; the activity can reduce anxiety and depression; the sunlight will provide a dose of Vitamin D that will also lead to a better night’s sleep. On top of that, imagine all the cool things you’ll discover along the way. Now is the perfect time to enjoy being serenaded by spring peepers and other frogs as you mosey along wooded or meadow trails. Appreciate the colors around you in the form of new blossoms on trees and groundcover.

Enjoy your local parks with your favorite fur friend, kids or spouse. There is something for everyone to discover and enjoy. Get outdoors and share your experience with us using #OutdoorsWithEDG! Most of all, take the opportunity to let nature provide its restorative benefits to mind, body and spirit.
